I love looking on Etsy for handmade toys. Many Etsians (?) sell knitted, felted, or sewn stuffed toys, which are unlike anything you see in retail stores. Lately though, I've been looking for handmade blocks and other wooden toys. This shop owner was recently featured in the US News and World Report article "Avoid Recalls: Make Your Own Toys." (Note: I am not a reader/subscriber to this magazine; I just happened to run across the article while searching for DIY toys...just wanted to reassure everyone that I'm a nerd, but not THAT much of a nerd...). Anyway, this seller makes several types of wooden puzzles that are developmentally appropriate and safe for children. Amazing craftmanship and cuteness to boot!
