Grandparents' Weekend

Charlie had a good time playing with Granny and Granddaddy this weekend. He and the dogs were exhausted every day from playing so hard. Their visit worked out really well because Dave’s classmates got together for dinner and games Saturday night, and Mom and Dad were forced to babysit Charlie. You can imagine that I had to twist their arms pretty hard…

Dave’s class is really unique because, even though it’s small (17 people?), they are really close-knit. They get together probably three or four times a year. This time we went to Flatire Burgers in Edmond, which seems like a nice place to hang out, especially if you like sitting outside. Then we went over to one of the classmates’ houses to play games. “Playing games” turned out to be playing Guitar Hero until 3:00 a.m. We had two people on guitars and one on drums. I don’t think it’s too much to say that I can play some mean drums. After all, it’s not bragging if you can back it up.

The weather was nice and warm this weekend, so Charlie had lots of outside playing time. He loves walking all around the yard. He reminds me of the Family Circus cartoons where the dotted line showed everywhere that Jeffrey had been. Mom said he was good Saturday night and went to bed with no problems. I think Mom and Dad enjoyed seeing what a silly monkey Charlie is. He loves to make faces and grin like a cheeseball. One of his new tricks is to grit his teeth and act like he has the shivers or chills. I have no idea where that came from.

Mom and Dad left around noon today, and we all had a nap this afternoon. I also got to watch a sappy Hallmark movie and do some knitting while Charlie napped, so it was an excellent weekend all around.
